A programme of footway maintenance is about to begin on Heywood Way and surrounding areas in Heybridge, to address defects and surface irregularities. These works are a pre-treatment for future slurry sealing activities, that will provide a weather protection barrier to preserve the surface and improve skid resistance in a future work programme.
These pre-treatment activities will begin on 20 April and continue until the end of July 2026 and will be carried out in phases. Most of the time traffic will be managed by a Give and Take arrangement, with traffic marshalls on site to provide assistance as required.
Areas currently identified for improvement include:
- Heywood Way
- Hillary Close
- Hunt Avenue
- Everest Way
- Wood Road
Significant defects in footway and kerbs will be addressed, as well as surface levelling. These works will be carried out in stages during the daytime, to minimise local inconvenience.
The slurry sealing programme will be carried out at a later date and communicated separately.
Please note that dates may be subject to change if the works are affected by poor weather, or if unexpected issues arise.
Clearways, or no parking zones will be in place to deter vehicles from parking on the street where work activities are taking place to avoid delays in the work programme and hinderance to work flows in the area.
Leaflets have already been sent to residents to provide advance warnings about these works (example attached), with details also available on the following webpage(below) and onsite signage.
